Eating Disorders on Campus

For many students, college life is light and laid-back. Others are afflicted by a heavy burden called binge-eating disorder.
A recent study by the University of California in Los Angeles reported that 75 percent of weight gain in college-aged women is associated with the cyclical pattern of a binge eating disorder.

Liquor Violations, Sex Offenses and Other Illegal Activity on the Rise at Post

The most recent C.W. Post crime statistics report reveals that the rate of sex offenses, burglary and disciplinary action for liquor violations has increased since 2006. Drugs arrests have decreased since 2007, as well as drug disciplinary action.

Students Celebrate Post Pride, Use Event for Charitable Causes

Green and gold decorations covered Hillwood Commons for C.W. Post's annual Post Pride Day, an all-day event to celebrate school spirit, Feb. 24.
This year, many students utilized the event to promote philanthropic or charitable causes.
"We are making peanut butter and jam sandwiches for the homeless," freshman Matthew Murray said.

For freshman Radiology major Stephen Siwulec, taking the lead comes naturally. "It was my dream to enlist in the Army since I was a baby," said Siwulec. A member of the U.S. Army since January 2004, Siwulec has always had his eye on making things better. "You should never give up because you can do anything you set your mind to," he said.

Will Blood Drive Pop or Flop?

The Blood Drive Committee held a meeting Tuesday afternoon, in an effort to gain support for this year's blood drive.
The meeting's agenda, which was lead by Fernando Mendoza, associate director of Student Life, included a round table discussion where students and staff discussed possible ideas that could make this year's drive a success.

For the third consecutive season, the C.W. Post men's basketball team finished the regular season with 20+ wins and a trip to the playoffs. Although the Pioneers won the final two contests of their regular season against St. Thomas Aquinas College and Queens College, they finished in second place in the East Coast Conference.

Making A Statement

In the world of sports, we hear a lot about statement games and a team needing a victory. Saturday's season finale between the C.W Post Lady Pioneers and the Queens College Lady Knights was just that. Knowing a Post win would lock up the number three seed in the East Coast Conference and set up a rematch with Queens on Wednesday in the opening round of the conference tournament, the Pioneers looked to avenge their recent two game losing streak and bring momentum back on their side.

Like the rest of the east coast, the Pioneers can't seam to escape snow. A season that was scheduled to start on February 13th has seen six consecutive games postponed because of weather.
